GreatballsOfire Hayden Lord Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 57 weeks ago, November 20th 2008 | Hello, | My Grandpa is a pilot, and he recently decided that he wants to take all of his grandchildren to "see the sights" starting with my cousin and I. He has said that he will take us "wherever we want, for as long as we want," but we will probably want to focus on the western half of the continent. All that we have decided so far is that we would like to spend the last leg of the trip fishing and hunting in Alaska before returning to California (where we live). Our time period will probably be around a month, but that too is flexible. ...so here is where you guys come in, WE NEED IDEAS. If you could go anywhere in the U.S. where would you choose and why? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!  OJ Oliver Johnston Post Count: 52 Msg: #2 57 weeks ago, November 20th 2008 | I've never done this but I think it would be an amazing experience to start on the west coast of Mexico and work your way north through California, Oregon, Washington State, then into Canada visiting British Columbia, perhaps the Yukon then into Alaska. | I'll let the Americans here comment on best sites in the US but if you go to Canada I'd recommend the following: 1. Vancouver 2. Vancouver Island 3. The Okanogan Valley (basically Canada's Sonoma...and the wine is pretty good!) 4. Whistler (a ski mountain, if that's your thing) 5. Tofino, a city in BC where I hear there's amazing surfing 6. In the Yukon you can go to Whitehorse or perhaps even better would be Dawson City where the Yukon gold rush happened....I hear you can still pan for gold up there Anyone else?
