Traveling over the Christmas/ NewYear holiday period, but still want to celebrate with friends?

Why not get together with other members of the TravelBlog community to eat, drink and swap travel stories?

Following on from the low-key but extremely successful 2007 TravelBlog Office Christmas Parties let's keep a good thing going and kickstart another round for 2008!

If you're willing to organise a party, post here in the forum saying you're able to do so, and give the location you'll be in (and dates if relevant). It could be as simple as picking out a suitable local bar or restaurant, or if you're in a popular location it may take a little more organising.

If you're interested in attending at one of the locations listed, click on the contact's link and send a private message giving the approximate dates you'll be passing through.

I'll be doing my Christmas shopping in London in December and would love to meet up with any fellow Travelbloggers who may be there too. My organisational skills are terrible, but I'm sure a good restaurant won't be too hard to locate if, say, 7 or 8 of us are free at the same time.

Drop me a line,

J.

I'm teaching English in the city of Cirebon, Indonesia. It's a 3 hour train ride from Jakarta. Is there anyone in Jakarta over Christmas? If not, I could catch a flight to KL. The school breaks up for a 2 week holiday on the 19th of December. Reply to this

Ali, I'm in Thailand right now, but around the dates you mentioned I will have to get out of it, most probably to Malaysia, to renew my visa. I wasn't gonna go to KL (not a fan of big cities), but if the thing get organized I will gladly take part in it.

Actually, Ali, why don't we do it on a malaysian island instead of KL? I'm sure it would be funnier and they are usually not to difficult to get to. And then again, you are a diver, what are you doing away from the ocean? :-) Reply to this

It's not meant to be a huge thing ;) - just a get together of those who happen to be in the area - I live in KL for the time being - and yes - I miss the ocean a lot! The other little problem is that the east coast is in Monsoon - so Langkawi would be the only real option. Reply to this

It looks like I'll be in London over the weekend of the 13th December. I have a few money concerns at the moment so a pint and a pizza might be all I can allow myself, but I'm more than happy to stand at Victoria station with an A3 sign with "TRAVELBLOG" on it and direct a group of us to a restaurant.

I can organise something in Brisbane, Australia. Southbank Parklands is a place with dozens of eating options - December 27-29, and possibly December 26 - though I may be distracted by watching the opening day of the cricket Boxing Day Test Match on TV - South Africa vs Australia ;-)
