I have just booked my flights today, leaving 20th January 09 heading to Bangkok, alone, arrgghh! Anyone around at this time? Is it really as easy as people say to meet fellow travellers? Very excited now.

I arrive on 21st Jan and head to Sydney on 24th Feb so thats a shame. How long are you staying and what are you planning to do while you are there?

Hi Kelly - am pretty new to this so forgive any ignorance! My name is Zubs from Cape Town, South Africa! Seems we in a similar boat! i am heading to Bangkok on Dec 16 & will be there & South Thailand until roughly 4/5 Jan 2009 - I am travelling with a cousin. We then head to Indonesia until roughly end of Jan as he flies back from Bangkok on 01 Feb. He heads back home 01 Feb so i am pretty alone from 01 Feb & in Bangkok. I am not sure what i am doing or where i am going once he leaves. I am travelling until 18 March 09 doing whatever & whenever - basically see where the wind blows!
So if this helps - get in touch with me & we can see if there any possibility of meeting & being travel companions at some stage!

What are plans/intentions? Anything specific?

Av u been to thailand before??if you havent youll love it i only went for a 2 week holiday to pattaya and fell in love with the place,nor just the girls lyk,i was shooting ak47s,pump action shot guns,i went deep sea fishing,fed crocodiles and sat with tigers and bears i got hammered every night chilled on the beaches it was amazing.they try to rip you off at first i was paying a 100baht for taxis when they were only suppose 2b 5baht you just gotta tell em youve been there before and you know the score n most ov em just laught n say ok 5baht or watever(cheeky bastrds) :) its relly cheap over there if you eat there food and drink there beer.what are you planning on doing??i might even just come with u :) ill av to think about it lyk and thas if your up 4 it,i work away as a thermal engineer look for 4-6wks at a time and im working over xmas but will be back for newyears with a good few grand and was looking to go on holiday so.... :) wad u reckon?? obviously ill av 2 come n meet you or have a chat wiv u first lyk i wouldnt wanna go with an asshole :) lemme know nathan xxx

Hey Kelly and zubs if you read this...Im Kevin (26)from ireland heading end of January to bangkok and then throughout thailand and hopefully laos, nam,cambodia ect...End of February heading for sydney(job waiting i hope) Have a brother and lot of friends there and plan on road trips, great barier reef,surfers paradise....Drinking , singing , dancing and everything else that life throws at me! Sick of the rat race at home im leaving doom and gloom for sun and fun!...Realy excited about ko phi phi island and phuket...Blue waters and white beaches....Drop me a line if yar interested in a travel buddy cos ill be travelling alone ...CANT WAIT IM BOUNCING WITH EXCITEMENT!!! tHAILAND HERE I come ...............:-}

Hey Kelly, my wife and I will be there from February 1st to 28th. We're going to be in Cambodia, Laos and the south. Maybe our paths will cross? PM us with a rough outline and we'll see if things line up?

Hi Kelly (and others :))

I get to Hong Kong the end of Jan and plan to go via Vietnam to Thailand (I have no set itinerary), then south. I have travelled through SE Asia for 5 months 3 years ago and its a wonderful place; no need to worry about being on your own if you stay smart. As you've probably read, loads of people go to Thailand especially and there is never a problem to meet people - most people have remarkably similar plans and are usually pretty flexible.
I am essentially travelling alone, aside from the Hong Kong leg, so you're welcome to contact me if your still stuck for travel buddies! I can also give you some info about Oz as I'll be heading back that way after Asia.

Hi,

I want to go with Captain Mark for two days on January 20 and 21.

We've got three people so far. My boyfriend and I and my best friend. We are chilled , easygoing, Dutch young people (26,28,32) who love having a giggle.

We are looking for at least threee more people to a maximum of 6. (no young kids please)

For six people this would cost 36000 TBH all in.

So with 6 people it would be 6000 TBH pp.

(food, transfers, nonalcoholic drinks, sleepingstuff, tours, snorkelgear)

It's on a boat. It would be a tour to the hongs (where he takes you in a dinghy) and the next day to the best snorkelling places. But because its a private tour we can fill it in the way we want it. And go to places you want to go to.

You would be able to sleep on a empty beach or in the boat.

Please PM/ ask me if you want more info. As I don't want to list it all now.

I really hope we can find people to join us as I have my heart set on this tour but cant afford it for only three people.

I'll be visiting Bangkok from 25 - 31 Jan alone, and am planning to stay somewhere in Silom. I havent come up with any itinerary, so if anyone has any idea, do let me know.

Make sure you visit the roof top bar, Vertigo while in the Silom district - it is amazing!!!

I am not back in Bangkok now till mid Feb but down in the Islands if you are heading down here let me know.

If not hope you have a great adventure.

I am in Kho Phanang for FM Party too & currently in S Thailand - Phuket. Off to Phi Phi next - where are you now? I also off to bangkok again in mid Feb, perhaps we can meet up sometime ,somehwere!

Hey Zubs,

Just been to Phi Phi - was lovely, stayed at Banthai which wasnt cheap but was good, speak to Miss Lea there is you need acc!!! Just at Railay which is just amazing, certainly worth a visit. Will be here a few days then off to Ko Tao - I am definately at the FM Party so let me know where you are and we can hook up for a drink :-)
