Wondering about Costa Rica during the rainy season...

We are thinking about going to Costa Rica the last week of October. We will likely rent a car and be doing our own driving. I have read about the rainy season and I was wondering if we should just wait to go another time of the year. I do not want to spend our days soaking wet or waiting for the rain to pass so we can resume our activities. Suggestions?

Costa Rica is beautiful any time of year but if you travel during the rainy season you will definitely get wet! We went to Corcovado in July and it rained 5 out of 7 days. None of our activities were postponed, we either wore rain gear or got wet, or wore rain gear AND got wet. Most of the rain was in the afternoon or evening. But, if you really don't want to get wet you may want to wait until the rainy season is over.
It depends on where you are going as to whether or not you want to rent a car. There are definitely do's and don'ts during rainy season. Though most of the roads are good the wet conditions may be tricky.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

The rainy season is usually beautiful and sunny in the morning and seriously rainy in the afternoon. Nearly all of costa rica's acitivites are outdoors, so if you don't mind just doing your activities in the morning or getting a bit wet, then the rainy season is a good option. Remember is is WARM rain, so it is not sooo bad! Most hotels and some tours are considerably cheaper in the rainy season so this s a bonus.

I love the rainy season, but thatīs just a personal opinion... I love to wake up with the sun shinning and bright, run my errands and then go home around noon to get ready to listen to the rain while I do some work or get in bed to watch a movie with hot cocoa, sometimes even get a little wet and have fun outside... But thatīs me...
I donīt think the best way to get to know our country is during the rainy season as you wonīt be able to see our volcanos, the road conditions are not the best and you might get stuck in a place you donīt want to.

Anyways, I hope you have fun and enjoy my Costa Rica!
