I ran across a deal to London that I couldn’t pass up. The price was the best I’ve ever ran across. The only problem is I have a few stops along the way... as expected.

Seattle-LA-Chicago-London

I get to London around 11:30am. That same day I also have tickets (19gbp) on the sleeper train to Edinburgh. I didn’t get first class room tickets, but they are the standard rooms.

Has anyone taken this train? From photos I’ve seen online, the room looks pretty small but we don't need much aside from a warm bed to rest for awhile.

I have half a day in London with no hotel as I wait for the train. Do the stations offer lockers or some way to store your luggage as you explore until the train arrives?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello Henry :)

Train stations in cities in Europe usually have lockers. They are however a bit overpriced. I usually travel very light to prevent the need for them.

There are left luggage centres at all the London railway stations. Which one are you taking the train from? Kings Cross? You pay to leave your bags but it is secure and they xray everything that goes in.

Be aware that it will take a while to get from whichever airport you are travelling into (Gatwick, Luton, Stanstead, Heathrow?) to the centre of London. You then need to get on the underground to the rail station you are taking your train from. This will also take a while. Make sure you leave enough time. Don't underestimate how long it takes to get across London!! It's a big place!

It's not cheap either. I think we paid £11 to get from Gatwick to Victoria on the slowest train. Took over an hour. Then your underground ticket is something like £4.40 a journey. It will probably take you about another hour to cross London from Victoria to Kings Cross, if that is your route.

Have a great time.

Mell: How much are the lockers? Are they sizeable?

Rat on the Road: How much is it to leave them at the luggage center?

We get into London around 11-12am. The night train doesn't leave until that evening so it will give us enough time to get to the station and stretch our legs after many hours of flying.

So taking the tube is the best thing to do as far as getting from the airport, to the train station?

Thanks again!

I cant remember how much they cost Henry. I just remember asking and then deciding that they are certainly not worth paying that much for.

You had better find out how late the tubes run. They stop for a few hours during the night. There should be a website giving information about them. Maybe somebody here can provide the URL for it?

Here is the website for the left luggage company. I can't remember how much it was, maybe it's on the website.
