Overstaying a Schengen visa

Have you overstayed a Schengen Visa or know anyone who has? If so, were there consequences?

hi alexandra i wouldnt take the chance.,i try to do the same thing in spain where am at right now and they ship me back to the US within the next hour some people stayed detained for days.they told me i could spent 6month a year in europe in other words you spent 3 month wait 3 month and than you can reenter the un. I'm now living in Belgium. I'm overstaying 2 years now.
What happen ... if I go back to my country Taiwan from Nederland Schiphol Airport?

I overstayed by a couple weeks twice and they did not check it. I have a friend who stayed 1 year and had no problem.

I am not recommending it, but I work with a guy who was working at the border in Ireland and he told me they were checking everything 1time of 5.
