Hi folks,

We are a group of 3 girls and 2 men from Germany (Frankfurt) traveling to central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for cultural studies on a student exchange program. Our trip commences from February. We will be documenting different cultural behaviors especially about time management and hospitality.

Can you (if you are a citizen of any of the above countries) help us in finding more information about these countries by answering the following questions?

Time management:

Does culture influence them in their attitude towards time?

Are they punctual for business appointments, meetings and dinners?

Do they expect foreigners to be punctual for meetings and dinners?

Hospitality and gifts:

Are there any traditional festivals or occasions where gift giving is a part of the hospitality?

What are the gifts that can be given in personal visits and in business visits?

What kinds of gifts are taboos in these countries? Numbers, colors or anything…..?

Hi!!
I think ,i am late with my answers ..but i decided to write answers to your questions..
1.Uzbeks are never punctual ....(punctuality never was in our blood :))) )
but there can be exceptions for the business appointments...but about punctuality for the meetings or dinner never...
but they know that foreigners are punctual, and when they meet with foreigeners we try to be punctual:))
In personal and business visits i advice u to give something that u have brought from your country..

good to know that Pakistan WAS part of Alexander's CONQUEST. I'm sure Pakistan has much to offer than just Alexander's cultures. So, in Pakistan, you speak Greek? or just simple Hindi? Reply to this
