surfing/beach hut in central america - help?

Hi,
I'm hoping to get some advice/help planning a month-long trip to south or central america. I want to spend some time (maybe even the whole time) living by a beach where I can learn to surf. Does anyone have any advice? Ever found some inexpensive beach huts for rent? Had a good experience learning to surf in central or south america?

Hey, dis you ever find anywhere? I'm planning to do exactly the same for 3weeks or so over new year. Any advice/input?
