What experience have other travellers had of China's new visa regulations? Are they permanent, or just for the Olympic period?
I have just got off the phone to my local Chinese Embassy (happens to be in Brunei Darussalam) and they\'ve told me that the visa regulations are recently changed. In 2006 and again in 2007 I was able to get tourist visas simply by giving information about a sketchy itinerary. This time I have to lodge copies of my return ticket and hotel bookings (plus my Brunei ID card) along with my Australian passport. She said the visa issued would be for fixed, unchangeable dates.
Since I was planning to buy train tickets when I get into Vietnam, where we will be pushed for time, this is rather a major blow. How are other travellers to China at this time managing?
Reply to this Hi Mell, again .... we must be covering the same lands. If I'd worked out how to search these forums I wouldn't have posted the question in a new thread. Maybe you can clue me in on that too?
Reply to this No problem Gillian. 😉
There is a search function but it is not available for members yet so ask whatever questions you want. 😊
Reply to this It'll be helpful when the search function becomes available ... there must be so much good info buried deep.
