Accomodation in Masbate

I'm travelling to Masbate early 2009. I would like to hear from you if you've been to Masbate. I appreciate there is a lot of povery there as I've travelled to the Philippines in 2002. I wanted to travel to Masbate then but was advised by a friend at the time that it was unsafe to travel there alone.
I took this advice and cancelled my travel plans but was extremely disappointed. I would like to hear your comments on this also.

I would be grateful if anyone knows of any accomodation in the vicinity. I'll only be staying there one or two days.

Is it Sprit of Asia that flies there from Manilla?
