Reply to this If you're going to be in the Cork area, don't miss Kinsale. It's a fine town with something like 45 pubs. I was also in Ireland with a buddy of mine and we stayed here...the Blue Haven Hotel, which was a tip that I got from a posting inquiry I made somewhere on the Internet

It was just great. Really.
There are a few bars there that are famous and deserve a stop...the Spaniard Inn's the most famous of them. The Bulman's another that's very welcoming.
Another town the we stayed at was Kenmare...we stayed at the Landsdowne Arms Hotel which was also very comfortable and I'd go back there.
We didn't go to Dublin, but I'd been there many times in the past and if you're into Irish traditional music, there's a center for that in Dun Laoghaire. There are very few tourists going there and a visit when there's music is a great experience.
Reply to this Hello Chelsea 😊
Be sure to hang out at Bewleys Cafe on Grafton Street Dublin.
Every Irish person who lives in or visits Dublin and every tourist goes there.
Another cafe I like is the one in the glass dome in the Stephens Green shopping centre in Dublin.
The shopping center is right beside Stephens Green. Go inside and go right up to the top. The cafe is at the side of the building facing Stephens Green. There is a nice view from the window tables.

Reply to this Kilkenny is my home town, it's a beautiful city. Soem really good pubs in the centre, half the fun is discovering your own so I won't tell you any here! If you have time, explore County Kilkenny too, I'd recomment Inistiogue (pretty, riverside village), Jerpoint Abbey (near Thomastown), and Graiguenamanagh.
Reply to this I will try to look it up, but there is a B&B in Cork that is within walking distance of downtown and has an AMAZING! breakfast. I think that they advertise as 30 different kinds of breakfast. That is no joke, and the food is very good quality. In addition, the rooms are quite nice for the price. I felt that out of all the places my wife and I stayed that was the best deal. In addition, for sceneries sake, I would try not to pass up Dingle, although this time of year it might be a little crowded. It is beautiful! We also enjoyed the Guinness tour. One more thing, try to connect with some of the locals, they are extremely friendly and hospitable. There is no better way to see the country than through they eyes of the native cultures.
Sincerely,
K
Reply to this Try and stay at independent Irish hotels instead of big name hotel chains. www.irishcountryhotels.com gives a list of family run Irish hotels where you have a better chance of meeting real Irish folks.
Reply to this just got back from Ireland. I stayed at the Annandale B&B in Dublin. great family, affordable room, great food, good location. I liked it because it is located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, and is only a 15 minute bus ride to the city centre. In Dublin, I would recommend going to howth (small town, on the northern coast of dublin) I would also recommend going to Croke Park ( learn about the Gaelic Games!), grafton, guiness factory(best beer you will ever have!) as far as pubs go, if you are looking for traditional Irish pubs (actually filled with Irish people) I would stay away from Temple Bar (tourist trap!) Quinns is a good pub, fagans, and plenty more! I did have a chance to go to killkenny but I've only heard good things, Cork- go see the Blarney Castle! thats about all I did in Cork. Killarney is a really cool city, FILLED WITH PUBS! I ended up staying at a B&B while I was there. I also took the ring of Kerry tour while I was thre (MUST DO!!!!)
other sights worth seeing
-Cliffs of Moher (45 minutes from Galway)
-Giants Causeway (northern Ireland)
-Dingle Bay
IRELAND IS GREAT CRAIC!!! you'll enjoy it...(the people are extremely hospitable and are always willing to talk, dont be shy!)
happy travels
POG MA THON!

Hang out at
Bewleys cafe on Grafton street
The cafe in the Dome of the Stephens Green Shopping cenre
The Irish Film centre in Temple Bar. If you like alternative films this will make hanging out there even better.
Starbucks in Blackrock has great views of Dublin bay. Go to Blackrock on the DART train. This Starbucks is near the Blackrock DART station. If you are in Dublin when the day light is short in some of autumn, winter, some of Spring Starbucks will be open until after dark and you can watch the sun go down on Dublin Bay from the huge windows there.
I lived in Dublin for 7 years. These are some of my favourite haunts.
Reply to this Hi guys,
I am sorry to see you are not also visiting the North of Ireland which really has some magnificent places to see and things to do.
