Back in venezuela for the first time in two years. It seems that comrade chavezhas been messing around with the local currency Bolivar and caused some kind of hyper inflation in the country. Things such as the price of a hotel, bottle of water, set meal already seem a lot more expensive compared to when the Bolivar had 000 after every two, five, ten and fifty. For example in the hottest of all towns, very grotty and close to the bus terminal here in Maraciabo for the crappiest of all roomsI have stayed in on all my travels you pay 50 bols but originally she wanted 80 which is triple the price of colombian accomodation. the room also doubles as a bourdoir or sex house i think because there is a flaming mirror on the ceiling to see all and sundry.
Anyway, I feel i have to persevere with the country for at least another week to confirm what other visitors, backpackers, internet bloggers have told me so far about the country based on their experiences. The main thing for me is to be back in colombia for the carnaval and to meet my english friend ben about the possible business idea around santa marta or taganga in colombia carribean coast.. I would like to make up my own mind about the country and the people here before deciding to concur with the majority or not.
Good to see a bit of propoganda as soon as you enter venezuela at the border with colombia but this time surprise surprise itss against the isreali bombings of palestine something along the lines of....
que dios permite matan los ninos inocentes
last time i was hear it was give the falklands back to argentina and get the troops out of iraq.
I need to rest my eardrums also tonight after a four hour taxi rideand full on merengue and salsa music being right next to the speaker in the back of a battered all 70īs chevrolet with purple velvet lining inside all the way from Macaio in colombia to maraciabo in venezela, good job i speak great spanish otherwise one could get lost here with those two towns sounding similar.
