New years in Punta

To start let me just say Punta del este is one crazy place. Ok since my last entry i spent 2 days in a nice beach town called pidiapolis which was good to chill out and i basically spent most of my time on the beach and the last couple of days have been here in punta.

The hostel here (mananitalis) has been packed and is 15 minute drive out of town which was good and bad. you really have to take a bus every where unless you are off to the beach where you can just walk...anyways i met more brazilians who have been driving around uruguay in a car so i stuck with them and headed out to a night club in the outskirts of la barra (the trendy place to go out drinking) the night club was out in the woods in a massive mansion like house pretty cool. the brazilians were feeding me swigs of absolute vodka from the bottle which got pretty crazy and i ended up losing them in the club. so at 8am it was time to go home and as i had lost my lift home i began my 2km walk through the woods back to the main road where amazingly i jumped straight on a bus which was heading past my hostel....but i fell a sleep and missed my stop only to be waken up by the angry bus driver 40mins later who kicked me out in the middle of the highway. (literaly there was a bus shelter and endless road in both directions).. luckly another bus came along so i caught that one back to punta del este where i fell a sleep again altho this bus driver was nice enough to kick me out at the bus terminal where i managed to catch a bus to my hostel and hit the sack at 10.30.

new years eve what can i say...quite different 2 australia. The day was spent at the beach recovering from the night before and then we started a bbq at 11 and were just on time for the fireworks and yes once again we all got on the drink at the hostel...then probably at 4 i hit off with an argentine to a mansion slash nightclub which was 25 bucks australian entry but all you can drink which i was sure to abuse as much as possible. from there we mixed it with the party crowd till well after sunrise. the trip home was great me and a american managed to hitch a ride back to the hostel with a local girl who was really sweet. Then there were the house partys i mean mansions on the beach 3 or 4 storeys which i swear could sleep 30 people...again anything you wanted free.... crazy times. these rich folk know how to throw a party.

and last night a bit of a quite 1 just out till 6 in a swanky bar with nice white leather couches and filled with glamour girls...i got left behind again but i hitched a great ride on the back of a motor bike along the beach road back to the hostel while the sun was rising...gold.

to be honest i don{t think the beaches rate to those of australia but the clubs and the night life is as trendy as it gets sure it costs a load of money but it is definatly awesome for a few days...i think one of the clubs on new years was 300 american entry altho if you ask me the parties in the mansions on the beach were totally the way to go...the trick is getting invited.

so yeah i am in detox tonight and i going to meet up with rafael from sao paulo who i met in montevideo and hopefully head out to camp in la paloma a beach town north east of here which is supposed to be cheaper and more chilled out and there is a rock concert there so i am looking forward to that.

anyways hope every1 else has had a mad new years i wish every1 the best for 2007.
