Utetemperatur + 33, busstemperatur +17 jag fruktar for mitt liv temperaturskillnaden kan inte gor mig nog inte gott men kanner mig anda starkt efter en halvdag pa stranden, tupplur pa farjan, Kings of Leon i lurarna (Kalle hur hade du tankt att jag ska fa tid att lyssna pa annat?) och en solotur, mitt resesallskap overgav mig och for at annat hall, i den idylliska smugglarstaden Colonia. Laga stenhus i gralla farger, grova kullerstensgator, kanoner ja ni forstar stamningen. Tar istallet nagra dagar vid havet i Montevideo, later tungmetallhalterna i lugorna sakta sankas ... read more

Prisla sva v ribisko vasico Punta del Diablo, kjer ni ... read more

Just so nobody complains, I am warning you right now that this is a LONG entry…pero sí que vale la pena leerlo. Planning ahead, we bought our Buquebus tickets the day before our trip. The blessing in disguise of the day was the fact that the earlier boat was booked and we were forced to choose the 11:30 Buque Rápido. Kelly and I made it to the Buquebus Dock/Port/Terminal with barely enough time to check in and go through immigrations before boarding the boat to Colonia, Uruguay. Argentina gives every tourist a 90-day traveling visa, which is automatically renewed every time you leave the country. I had arrived back in Argentina after my Torres del Paine trip in Chile on February 19th and was traveling to Uruguay on May 22nd (yes, more than 90 days). I ... read more

Punta del Diablo proved to be everything we´d hoped, not exactly a quiet little fishing village as it is becoming a popular destination , but still a laid back little village with gorgeous beaches and crashing Atlantic waves. We were lucky to find a little cabana (hut) right on the point, with no electricity (candles are romantic right?), a hammock and a stunning view along the playa del viuda (widow´s beach). We spent 6 days here! We met up with Duncan and Lorrienne who had been at the ranch. They popped over a few times for braai (bbq) and more schloofdoof (Henry´s South African concoction of a hollowed out watermelon with oranges, pineapple.... and vodka!). We had a good time relaxing here during the sunset and into the night, sharing stories of our trips. We were ... read more

Hej wam wszystkim!!! Nawet nie wiem od czego tu zaczac. W buenos Aires spedzilismy w sumie trzy dni. Dostalismy sie do kas, a ... read more

Ham and cheese anyone? Arriving in Uruguay was a welcome reduction of pace from BA. Colonia on the other side of the mouth of Rio de la Plata was a sleepy sunny town, with river beaches and a tourist friendly mind set. Its easy to stroll around it in a day or if you feel especially lazy you can hire a golf buggy and really fly the tourist flag! It was our first taste of hostel life, chatting to other travellers over cheap (but delicious) wine in the cool courtyard as others strummed away on guitars and bongos, while others still cook their various dinners in the communal kitchen as the sun went down. Beds so soft you sleep with your head between your knees but that hardly seemed to matter as the earliest we ... read more

...El Clasico, The Surf at Punta, Carnaval, and a slightly delayed bus journey... Hello yet again. Latest update has arrived at last, sorry for the delay. It has been more than a week I believe, so I´ll waste no more time and crack straight on. Montevideo was my location when I last signed off if I´m not mistaken. We spent a couple more days there, however, there really was very little to do. I really didn´t think too much of the Uruguayan capital, I´m sure its not the worst city on earth, but in comparison to what we´ve seen before and since, it falls quite a way short. We gave it a fair go, and took in a couple of museums and saw what there was to see, but it really amounted to little. Aside from ... read more

Ola all, Como Vai? Yep the Brazilian Portuguese is coming on treat. The beginning of this latest blog will start in the form of a brief match report. A few days back whilst in Montevedio (29th Jan) we managed to fluke being in the city when El Classico was being played, the biggest match in Uruguay between the two most successful teams, with the most hatred between eachother to boot; Penarol and Nacional. It was certainly a baptism of fire, or as it turned out to be, fireworks, for our South American football experience, as we were greeted by all manner of explosives upon entering the ground. The ground itself is called the Stadio Centenario, and most famous for playing host to the first ever World Cup Final in 1930 which Uruguay won. Incidentally there were ... read more

After a very unexciting New Years in Buenos Aires I was a little sad. It was my fault for not having a good one, but I got over it. It was just another day and there is always another year. So the best part of it was listening to USC win the Rose Bowl on internet radio. So after New Years I knew that I had about 1 month to travel around Northern Argentina before returning to meet Dad and Jeff for our Patagonia trip. My destination: Uruguay! Well the exclamation point may be overkill. I went to Uruguay with a girl I have met various times on my trip in Peru, Ecuador, and now Argentina. We got on a ferry to Colonia and then a bus to Montevideo. The country´s Capital. We spent the night ... read more
