...here are a few photos from the last week James and I spent in Uruguay.
The lemon detox thing has been completed... result: I don't feel any different... well maybe a bit more in touch with my feminine side!! and maybe a bit less squidgy round the edges....! ;-p But it did make coming back to Buenos Aires for James’ last meal yesterday evening a real treat to look forward to.
La Cabrera is one of the best steak restaurants in BA at the moment - and that's saying something - with what can now sit at the top of the league as the best steak I have EVER had (near enough a 1kg slab that was easily 3" thick) the food certainly didn't disappoint. Nor did the prices at £10. The service was awful though!
Anyway we waddled out from the restaurant and went to have a few last drinks with Mathias and Evelina (a lovely Danish couple who we'd travelled with in the Bolivian Amazon)... a few drinks became a few more drinks and in true Argentine fashion we ended up staying out until 4.30am.
But, despite the frantic rush to pack and get to
James and the giant steakAfter being so good for 5 days - about 1kg of Argentina's finest beef each does us proud for our last meal together in Buenos Aires.
the airport this morning, it was a great way to finish our travels together. Nearly 4 months in each other’s company day-in-day-out and surprisingly very few arguments! What wasn't surprising though was the great time and the number of laughs we had along the way - we’ve grown pretty good at that over the years regardless of the situation!
So James is currently winging his way back to Britain in time for Christmas and I’m going to enjoy a few days in BA back in “traveller world” where already there’s talk of a few trips to see some of the sights of this fantastic city and possibly an outing or two to celebrate the season.
Happy Christmas all.

Send Private MessageHi mate, great blog especially considering we didn't get to do much in Uruguay other than digest lemons lemons and more lemons! It's funny now I'm back in London it's really hit home how much we've seen and done in the last four months - a real once in a lifetime opportunity, I shall certainly miss our adventures when I start commuting in a few weeks time! Look forward to hearing what you get up to next, I'll try and skype you tomorrow - let me know what kind of time you might be online. Merry Christmas, ho ho ho!! James
Hi B. It's been ages since I looked at your blog (naughty me!), but as always am amazed at how good you are at keeping it up to date and full of useful info. I'll need to read back a few pages to understand the obsession with lemons. Some kind of detox thing? I hope you had a great Xmas and a suitably drunken New Year. Ours was quiet and I'm now back at work. Snorrrr. I think Jo told you we are moving to Cape Town at the end of Jan. Interesting opportunity to help set up and office over there. If you are heading in that general direction it would be wonderful if you can drop by. We'll have a spare room! Where are you heading too next and how much longer do you think you will be on the road. The Chelsea scene is not the same without you. Cheers. Mat. x
