So just after our last entry we saw a women get run over.. that was class.. think she broke her leg.
Went to a nice italian which was playing the beatles etc and was very cheap! The day after we got up at 5.30 a.m (Sorry Yousef we know u have to do that everyday now!) to get a 4hr train ride to Machu Pichu which moff renamed Moffapichu. Got bear pictures so youŽll be able to see it later today hopefully. We had to get a bus from the train up steep winding roads to the top. After we went to a bad cafe which was based 5 meters from the train track and when we ordered our food she ran out and got it from another restaurant and carried through the scruffy street! Got back after a really boring train ride and got ripped off by annoying taxi man!
Got up next day at 6.30 to get a 6 hour bus ride to Puno by Lake Titicaca. Went out on the lake to the floting islands that are man made out of reeds and met the president of one of the islands! went on a boat made out of reeds and the president stacked it and almost fell in when his oar snapped! It was like Coniston all over again just really really cold and on one of the biggest lakes on earth!
Went to a restaurant and me and jonny ate lama and moff got duck. Went to bed at 8.30 and got up at 6.30 again! Had an 8 hour bus ride across the bolivian border to La Paz. It was eventful! Jonny got left in Bolivia on his own while zach and moff went to get our passport stamp changed cos the peruvians are spackers! Stopped off at a place called Copacabana which was nothing but dogs. Scary dogs.. jonny was pooing himself.
After that we got on another bus which was a bit dodgy as it is and then went on the scariest roads yet up massive mountains where ppl die alot. Then had to get a boat across Lake Titicaca. Our coach went on a big raft thing and we saw some proper mint old men (See Pics). Got dropped off in the centre of La Paz at rush hour with no idea where to go. Eventually got to the hotel. Without Being raped.
Today was the best day of our lives.. sort of.. We got in a taxi, told it to go to Plaza San Pedro outside San Pedro Prison and eventually plucked up the courage to ask if we could go in! At the main gate they sent us through but a guard stopped us and sent us round the side where they proceeded to take our passports, cameras and Moffs wallet! They then called out some guys name who took us into the prison!! He was an inmate in there for drug trafficking! They took us upstairs through two rooms which are the cells. They were chilling on sofas with a few grams of coke in the ashtray. Went upstairs through a computer room and met Stuart, a murderer and big time drug trafficker, who had been on death row in Pakistan and chained up in zimbabwe for 3 yrs on manslaughter charge! He was sound! We asked loads of questions then got a tour of that section of the prison. For those who havent read marching Powder the prsion is a city within itself, with restaurants, shops where u can buy anything, games room, gym and church! There are no guards or policemen once your inside the gates. He showed us a few bedrooms, the showers for people who didnt have ensuites. The rooms cost about $400 to $1500. He told us heŽd get us cocaine if we wanted but obviously we declined. We then had to pay 25 quid each for the tour but none of us had any money so zach had to leave the prison to go get cash while jonny andf moff got held at ransom! He said you better hope your mate comes back or your gonna have to buy yourselves a bed! It was actually safer inside than out as we nearly got robbed once out of the prison (see photo of zach jonny and pickpocket who tried to grab moffs bag).
WeŽve just booked our hostel and bus for another 12 hour journey down to Uyuni tomorrow where weŽre gonna go on a 3 day 4x4 ride across salt plains, deserts and volcanoes!
Peace Out.. gracias amigo
