REUNION IN MANCORA
Mancora is located at the Pacific coastline of Peru and is renown for being one of the best surfing spots of Peru. We booked in to a very exotic cabaņa for 3 nights. The swimming pool and delicious tropical fruit juices served at this place made it a fantastic hang out!
We used facebook to get in touch with our Machu Picchu friends Debra, Chris, Ted and Paula. It turned out they were all staying in Mancora!Debra and Chris were staying at the same place as us!
Debra and Chris have got a friend who runs a bar with her Peruvian boyfriend. This made a great palce for a Machu Picchu reunion! Chris got the English Indy rock tunes going and Debra made sure her mate kept the mojitos and caiperinhas coming. It was down to us (Ted, Paula, Yvonne and myself) to take it all in..... It turned out to be a fantastic and long night. We could have been in London.
The next day, not everybody felt that great, but Ted and I booked a surfing lesson. A long lasting personal dream came through! After 2 mins instruction on the beach and how to
climb on to the board, we hit the waves! Marco our instructor took turns with escorting Ted and me into the waves. His flippers prooved to be essential in this proces. My first two attempts were not completely successful, but the third time I got on the board (for 3 seconds). After that I got up twice again. Not before Ted almost beheaded Marco and me by trying to ride the wave on his own...... My last ¨ride¨ felt quite professional. Unfortunately not caught on camera by Yvonne who was lying on the beach recovering from the night before.....Where are they when you really need them?!?!?
We enjoyed the sunsets and fantastic seafood in Mancora, before we headed off with Ted and Paul to Equador. Unfortunately Debra and Chris had to catch a flight to London.
