Another example of lost in translation - at breakfast we were offered scrambled eggs instead of papaya juice in case we hadn't liked the juice the day before. An interesting trade off - but they had observed correctly as Chris drunk none of his the day before. I was however looking forward to mine so ordered one juice and one portion of eggs. The Spanish was all very simple and straightforward, so were utterly bemused when we received a juice and portion of eggs each! As well as our bread, butter and jam and my te con leche (tea with milk, literally just that - no hot water, just tea and hot milk.. starting to really enjoy it).

With a few hours before our bus to Puno, what else could we do but shop - some excellent finds for both of our mums.

On arrival at our lush hotel in Puno (first hot shower in nearly two weeks) we found Taryn in reception (who had arrived nearly 12 hours earlier at 5am) and shared a few squeals and hugs before checking in. The hotel had messed up our booking but in our favour - a twin and single room instead of a triple. We shared tales of the last couple of weeks before booking our night stay on another island in Lake Titicaca and going for dinner at Malluka where Taryn and I played it safe and Chris had, to our disgust, guinea pig - head, eyes and all!

Out and about in Copacabana we stopped at the cathedral to take a few pics, there we came across a Father blessing a truck... it was bizarre to watch decorated vehicles flicked with holy water as small family crowds gathered round. I had heard fo the blessing of miniatures at the beginning of the year so that one might acquire the object through the year, but not the blessing of the actual object.

Our bus to Puno was an experience - in order to border cross, all passengers disembarked and had to walk the 100m between Bolivia and Peru on foot before we were collected at the other side by the same bus twenty minutes later. Just to let you know, guinea pig is a lot like fried chicken.
