Today, we got to Peru. An 8 hour bus ride (which took closer to 9 hours, but that´s fine) from Loja got us to Piura. The best way to describe Piura is: think about Beer Sheva - that´s Piura. It´s a big city (at least according to what we´ve seen in Ecuador so far) in the middle of the desert in Peru.
That´s right - desert. During our long bus ride, we came down from the Andes, and we are now in the middle of the desert in the north of the coastal region of Peru. Piura is a nice enough city, much more western than we´ve seen even in Quito, but there really isn´t much to do here. Tomorrow we´re continuing on to Trujillo, which is surrounded by pre-Inca ruins, that are supposed to be very impressive. We´ll probably spend two night there, before heading on to Huaraz, for some serious trekking.

No pictures today, I left the camera at the hostel.
