So this is seven am day six..... I wasn’t going to say anything until we were back safe but I’m too excited. Today I’m going to jump in the water with the sea lions. We are going on a trip to see them and, apparently, if the sharks are not close, we can jump off the boat to say hello. How cool is that?!! Dave is worrying about sharks but I’m not. I will wear my go pro so, with any luck, will get some brilliant video and photos up close. Catch up later! Hopefully... read more

Day seven (a day late as was too tired). A close encounter of a sea lion kind. Palomino Islands. Our sea lion tour didn’t start until around 11am and, by that time, we were both nervous and excited. The boat was much like the one we went on the day before, several rows of two seats and a capacity of just over 30 people. We were blessed with the weather too, hot and sunny with calm waters. The guide explained that, just last, week, they hadn’t been able to get out to the protected rocks where the sea lions live because it was too rough. Once we all piled off the coach, 28 of the thirty people on board decided they needed to go to the bathroom. O-o. Ridiculous really as the coach journey was around 4 ... read more

Distance driven today: 238 miles / 383 km Cumulative distance driven: 10,079 miles / 16,221 km (6,000 miles to go) Today’s trip: Machala, Ecuador to Piuna, Peru Border crossings: 1 Less than an hour after leaving Machala this morning, we had arrived at the border between Ecuador and Peru. At least we had been driving in the direction towards the border, according to the big and very clear road signs that the Ecuadorian ministry of transportation had set up along the road. Big kudos to the Ecuadorians for clearly signposting the directions to the border before even getting there. This was a welcome change since I haven’t seen such clear roads signs before the border since I left the US and the border between Arizona and Mexico. However, once we had driven about 15km / 10 ... read more

Dec 21 - Peru - Puira - Beach Life - Well its official - we have now been to possible one of the most remote beaches I have ever been to. The girls were itching to see the sun so we embarked on an adventure to make it from Puira on a local bus to Puerta which is kinda a shanty town (dodge/sad) and then in a combino taxi to the beach (20min drive). Not speaking very much spanish we made it. - The taxi was accross a desert / rubbish land fill haha and then down through some pretty amazing cliff type roads to the beach. Really remote and really hot. Alice has officially industrial strength skin to cope with the sun. Dani and I have more ´home brand´ type skin haha - Lobster anyone. ... read more

Claro. Drum bin ich dann wieder gegangen. Und zwar nach Lima. Dort bin ich jetzt.... read more

After Mancora I was in Sullana then I got Piura on Saturday, a friend of mine took me to some place for dinner, the food was great! We went to a disco, The Queens, it was so crowed but we got fun there... Today we went to Catacaos, I have to tell I think there isn´t a better place to eat... the food was incredible! ...and it´s cheap. Now, in some hours I´ll fly to Lima but I´m planning to come back to Ica and finally go to La Huacachina! I´m excited! Next time I´ll post some pictures...... read more
