Our first full day in Lima has been fantastic! After breakfast, Rach's friend Jorge picked us up and took us on a tour of the city. It was great weather and we saw the inside of their main Church, the Council building and a few of the parks. The driving in Lima is absolutely crazy, there are no lanes, doesn't seem to be any road rules and there is sooo much honking! We had an amazing lunch which Jorge's mum cooked for us, which had some traditional Peruvian dishes. Everything was delicious and we wished that we could speak more Spanish than just Gracias to tell her how good it was! After lunch, we went for a drive to the beach and went up Morro Solar, which is one of the mountains here. There is a restaurant called the Jumping Monk, which you can see from the mountain road, which hires a guy to jump off the rocks into rocky water below every hour. Apparently the story behind it is that a long time ago a monk jumped off those rocks because he was heartbroken over a women and he died. Back at the hotel we had our first meeting with
our tour group who all seem really nice. There are 11 people on our tour, a few from Aussie, a couple of Brits and one from Canada. We had our first meal out at a restaurant a couple of blocks away. Tomorrow we are leaving at 6am for some dune buggying and sandboarding!
