For Wednesday 08/19/09 the plan was to stop by my aunt and uncle’s house in Pueblo Libre and then go to a couple of museums. However, I had felt a bit iffy the night before and woke up achy, as if I was coming down with a cold. Ever the Type A, I loaded up on meds and decided to plow through. But when we got to my relatives’ home I felt I was fading. We scratched the museum outing, stayed for lunch at my relatives’, and headed back to the condo. I quickly got in bed to take a nap; I definitely didn’t want to feel like this when in Cuzco. Ben decided to go to a nearby casino and Cathy spent time watching TV.
Ben soon returned, as the tables didn’t open until 6pm, only the slot machines were open at that time. We got up around 6pm to go to the mass organized as part of the HS Reunion activities. I was feeling better; the rest really helped.
After the service, us girls stuck around and chatted for a while in the patio in front of the church. At around 8:30pm, Sissy, Jeff, Ben, and I headed
over to a dinner show at Brisas del Titicaca (Monica had graciously offered to have Cathy spend the night at her house—Cathy would have more fun with Monica’s kids, anyway).
The show at Brisas del Titicaca was excellent. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about, so a better plan would have been to go to dinner first and then come for the show and drinks, but we were at mass. The show features dances and music (live bands) from the various regions of Peru, with regular dance music every so often so that the audience would get up and dance. Although I was feeling better than I did in the morning, I was just not there 100% and I was tired/sleepy from the meds overload, so I didn’t dance at all, likely a first for me. The show ended with two champion dancers performing the Marinera Norteņa. Beautiful! Altogether, I highly recommend the show, but go have dinner somewhere else first. The show was over at around 12:30am, so we headed to the condo for a much needed good night sleep.
