I made it! Over 13 hours of flying and managed to not get bombed, hijacked or disappear, things are looking good (Although I have another 5 flights left so who knows). On my first flight they actually asked if there were any nurses or doctors on the plane as they had a sick passenger. I slowly disconnected my earphones and took my time pausing the movie, was about to offer my help when someone else got up (yusss!). I had a stopover in Chile (managed to find the right gate), and the airport had a nice view which looked over some mountains with snow on them. From there I landed in Lima which is where I am now, I wasn't going to blog until my last day in Lima, but I've already got a few things to talk about and tomorrow is a big day. Last night I had a shower then went straight to bed as I was so sick and tired (I'd managed to pick up some virus the day before I left NZ which is the worst I've been in two years). Today I met up with my cousins friends friend Daniella who tried to show me around
the city, but today is a Peruvian holiday to celebrate Peruvian Independence, so most things were either closed or cost double the price. We walked around Miraflores which is where I'm staying, it's right near the beach but sits up on the cliff. They have an outdoor mall that looks out at the ocean and they have lots of parks along the top of the cliff. We walked into the city part for a bit as well which is where we found a park called Parque Central De Miraflores. This is not just any ordinary park, but a park that was filled with cats! My dream had come true, if you know me well then you know that I love cats, my friend recently bought me a mug for my birthday that said "registered nurse by day, cat lover by night". Unfortunately Daniella hates cats and still I decided not to put her through the painful experience of hours in the cat Park and go back later. When I did, I found it bizarre, there were people patting, holding, cuddling and feeding the cats, and the cats loved it! They weren't the mangey looking cats like the ones you'd find
in Italy or Greece, they were actually well looked after. After the excitement of finding out there was a cat Park, we went to have some authentic Peruvian food at a restaurant called Margo's Cafe. It was buffet style and most of it was seafood which tasted amazing! I tried Causa which is this potato thing, Ceviche (a seafood dish), Seco De Corner (lamb dish), Picaromes (A Peruvian dessert that looks like a doughnut but tastes different). It was so good! I was so full that I didn't even need dinner (and still feeling full at 10pm). After that Daniella went home and I wandered around all the parks along the beach and took some photos. Tomorrow I'm doing a tour around Lima so need to get some sleep. Will write another blog in a few days time, adios!
