Leanne and I landed in Chile a couple of weekks ago. We didnt spend as much time in chile as it was a bit more expensive that peru and bolivia. We mad three stops in chile. The first one in santiago, then San Pedro de Atacama and the last stop was in Arica. Santiago was a strange city, full of graffiti and random pot holes. I dont think there was anything much to see there but as i only stayed a couple of days there then i may be making a sweeping generalization. Sab Pedro de Atacama is a must. We stayed in Hostel de Rural, i recommend staying here to anyone who visits San Pedro de Atacama. It is such a pretty little place in the middle of nowhere. We did the space star tours and i have never seen such a night sky (apart from maybe egypt). We were able to see shooting stars and a comet. They are currently setting up a project there with various countries donatin money. Our last stop in Chile was Arica. This is on the Peru border. There wasnt much going on so we didnt spend long here. We did go to the local market with the owners of the hostel and purchased fresh ingredients for our meal that night.

Our first stop in Peru is Haucachina. A pretty little place set round a lake and surrounded by sand dunes. Sand boarding today so more info to come. Leanne and I have foudn that they speak more english in Peru so that has made it easier for us as our spanish is limited. We have managed to book bus tickets etc with limited spanish but we plan on getting spanish lessons in lima. Peru seems to have more greenery than peru which i like and it is also warmer than chile as we were not in the high season when we hit chile. Hopefully we can get a bit of a tan before we head back into the UK winter
