Well Machu picchu astounded myself,Kate ,Cisco and Elvis..
A surprizingly warm humid 5am start with breakfast of warm fresh banana cake with coffee in a polystyreñe cup from a little old peruvian lady about 65years old.... hmmm all for a dollar fifty....
amazing to see how many tourists get up this time of the morning to line up like sheep....
so we climb in a flash bus with soft seats and start our hairpin ride up the side of a mountain to be there by sunrise...
mist hovered just above the ruins as we walked to the first viewpoint, stepping over the wee sleeping snake on the way up..and the classic machu picchu view comes to eye....the irony of it is not just the location but the steep grade on either side of the ruins....like a little stumble and you´d end up zorbing all the way to the valley floor without a Zorb ...google it...
we were in the first 20 people making it kinda cool as everyone disapears due to the pure size of the place...and to my noses suprise lamas sit up there with new born cria chewing and watching the world go by....
on the opposite end of the ruins is a huge mountain...see the pics, 200 people can climb it before ten when the first wave of train people arrive, it´s nice and cool with a humid touch and the climb is almost verticle with well placed steps.....also you slip you die...simple...
Kate scrambled up at a faster pace than almost any other tourist and after an hr we got to the summit... to think they built up here is kinda hard to comprehend....
at it´s height they say some thousand people lived up there and manicured the landscape to look like something made by Weta...
it´s been a long time coming actually getting here...one of those places you wish you might actually get to see for real instead of on the national geographic channel.... but one still has to blink and see the orchids 6 feet high and the imaculate condition of something so old...
so after my rabble i´ll add some images for eye candy so you can see a little of what we experienced....
oh and just before we left we sat down in someones once well cared for house and proceeded to hack of my dreads...... arghhhhh emotional issues to follow.... love and miss you all xxx

Jesus, that looks so incredible! Thanks for the pics (especially the Llamas!). What kind of stone is it made out of? I am so jealous right now - i think i am gonna have to follow in your footsteps one day. You guys make it sound so incredible, some of the photos look almost surreal... Anyways, miss you guys (and Elvis) and keep posting! I need something to cheer me up during exams! :) Hugs Jamie
