Untitled We loved the little city of Cuzco. We only went as a place to see Machu Picchu from but ended up being there for a week! It has amazing sense of history with some great buildings and a really cool main square ´´Plaza de Armas´´. Two great big old cathedrals too...

Machu Picchu speaks for itslef, supposed to be the most impressive Inca ruins anywhere. We were up at 5:00am to get on the train from Cuzco to Machu Picchu at 6:00. The train ride up had some of the most amazing scenery we have seen with huge mountains, rivers and even a glacier. Many smaller ruins are scattered about on the hillsides too. We did a guided tour for a couple of hours in the morning and after lunch spent the afternoon exploring for ourselves, mostly the back side of the mountain...

The town at the base of Machu Picchu was nice with a river running through the middle. We had lunch at a cafe on the second day and were joined by a little Peruvian girl who just wandered up to us and decided to stay for
