Got to the Sun Gate and couldn't see a damn thing - the entire landscape was one big pure white cloud. Tried very hard not to be disappointed. After waiting in vain for the clouds to lift, we set off again, wondering this time why we were bothering. But then! We turned a corner and there it was! I'll admit I had tears in my eyes when they first set upon Machu Picchu. I couldn't quite believe it was really there, right in front of me. Albeit, still covered by mist and cloud, but visible nonetheless. In fact the mist added to the mystery of it all. And it cleared up in time for some reasonable photo opportunities. We didn't even need to make a sacrifice to the Gods!

Hola! Got your postcard today - thank you! When you wrote it you were looking forward to the Machu Picchu and now you've seen it, I hope it lived up to your expectations. Your experience at the Sun Gate sounds a bit like your first experience with your stethoscope - except you couldn't see a thing rather than hear a thing ;-) Anna and I had a great time in Seville and Cadiz. Hopefully she'll put a few pictures up on Facebook so watch this space... xxx
