This was a local's market rather than a tourist market, which was interesting to walk around.
On our way back to Cusco we stopped at Chinchero. The town was included on our sacred valley tour but we did not get to go to it because we got off at Ollantaytambo to catch our train to Machu Pichu. We walked through a locals market, which was really interesting. Kate got hassled AGAIN by little kids wanting to sell tacky fake lama beanies with lama patterns on them. She was always attracting people to hassle her for some reason. At one point in Cusco some little kid ended up telling her she was a stupid bitch, when she walked away from his finger puppets. I was really shocked. No one had said anything even close to that abusive to me before. We walked around the Inca ruins outside of town, but they paled in comparison to Machu Pichu, and I think we were all pretty ruined out by that time. The church was pretty interesting though, as there were three different wedding parties coming out, one by one. We had heard that in other small towns the priest only comes once a year, so all weddings, funerals and christenings had to happen on that day. Maybe it was the

case here too. There was also a big feast in the church grounds which looked to be of some significance that went over our heads.

Back in Cusco, the plan was to just go somewhere nice for dinner and have a "couple" of drinks, because it was Kate and Ruley's last night and they had to get up at about 5am in the morning to catch their plane to the States. But, is that really possible, to have an quiet night when it is your last night in town? I don't think so. We had to nearly drag Kate home at about 3:30am, for her own good, and because we just could not keep up with her for any longer. It was such good fun though dancing in a local night club till the wee hours.

These blogs are getting briefer and briefer, but better brief than blank, huh?

A big ol' church built on Inca ruins. It was all happening here too, a market, 3 weddings and a big feast.

It did not seem like this was a part of any of the three weddings. It was also interesting because the men and the women sat in seperate groups, which is not something we had really noticed generally in South America.

Peru
My family and I just got back from Peru too. I noticed that you also went to the Machu Pichu. Aren't the markets interesting? Definetly not what we were used to. Did you guys stay overnight there? We stayed at the Sumaq Hotel. I heard it is the only 4 star hotel in Peru. If you ever go back it worth it stay there. We booked our vacation through www.peru-inc.com. They really know how to cater their clients. No problems at all. Check them out.
