I arrived in Cusco last Wednesday, and I immediately went and tries to sort out a 4 day trek to Choquequirao, which are the other set of Inca ruins that they are still discovering. Everything looked to be on track, we had managed to cobble together 4 people for the trek - Great. Then the following evening - just 10 hrs before leaving I was told that one of the group had altitude sickness, and so all 3 of them were pulling out of the trek! - No trek!!!
Having already booked my onward flight to Argentina I was not happy, as I would quite happily have stayed an extra couple of days to do this trek.
Instead I have been staying around Cusco. At the weekend I went and did some white water rafting ( no pics unfortunately), which was great fun - although a bit on the cold side!! I also had my first go at horseriding - good fun ,but a bit sore after a while!!! and I'm not sure they gave me a big enough horse - I'm not exactly jockey sized!!
Cusco is a nice enough place, it is however 100% geared towards tourists, and that
gets a bit dull. So I had a bit of time to sample some of the many variants of Pisco Sours that seemed to be on offer everywhere
Anyway - off to Buenos Aires tomorrow ( hope itīs good in Argentina, as I wasnīt planning to go there originally.)

You do realise that you are in deep schmuck with Jane, having inflicted your mighty mass on that poor pony's frame. I didn't know they had Shetland ponies in the Andes! Did the white water rafting provide you with that "enema moment"?
Bet you were really pleased when that altitude sicky pulled out of the treck - but what was wrong with the other three? Holdy hands types I guess!!
Enjoy Argentina and try and take in an asado (Argie Barbie) if you can - cracking beef and lots of it! Watch your asp if you go to BA though.
Iīve been making enough visits to Parillas to put together a meaningful statisitcal sample of beef quality, and I have to say, 90% has been outstanding ( 90% is also the amount of your plate that each sample takes up!!)
I think Iīm going to put back on all the weight Iīve lost so far whilst in Argie - you cant help but have Steak and a bottle of wine - itīs the staple diet!!
"Gee Up" Neddy to the fair. what will I get when I get there? A Pisco Sour & a side of Beef, some Anusol Oh! what a relief. Yankee Doodle went to town riding on a donkey, the poor old ass was sore as hell, his legs were weak and wonkey! How could you Trev? Have you no compassion? Love Mumx
