I spent National Holidays in Cajamarca (July 25 to 29 July), i always wanted visit it... lot of people recommend me and finally i went there... i traveled with my best friends Sandra Torolira and Liliana Zeballos, 3 friends from work (Evelyn, Cynthia and Patty), Sandras ex-boyfriend and 2 friends of her.
Looking a better short description of Cajamarca i found this, hope u like it...
"The department of Cajamarca is characterized by slight slopes and highlands relatively low in comparison to the rest of the Peruvian Andes. The territory is made up of numerous valleys and gorges.
The city of Cajamarca brings together three ingredients that make it an unforgettable destination: a magnificent Colonial architecture, beautiful countryside, and a rich history since it was the scene of an important episode of South American history. Here, the Conquistador Francisco Pizarro captured the Inca Atahualpa who, in spite of fulfilling his part of the ransom, was killed. From that point onward, the conquistadors drafted the city in the traditional Spanish way, and today the Colonial constructions of the Cathedral, the churches of San Francisco, Belen, and la Recoleta, mansions, and monuments are preserved. "
My travel start from
Lima, i went by Cial bus like 15.5 hrs... i didnt like it, the driver was imprudent and the bus was a mess, about movies, dont xpect too much... my return i did by Linea try that company, i think is much better
The road to camajarca is like all the roads to peruvian highlands, full of green trees, brown mountains, tipical little towns with their adobe and 2 roof water houses, if u see the sky at night ull feel like all stars down for u, i took a pic of road cause i was at the first row...
When we arrived in Cajamarca we got the surprise the national holidays parade was celebrating at the main square... we saw it cause our hotel was in front the plaza... talking about it, my hotel calls Casona del Inca, outside is not nice but inside it is! i felt like i lived in a old big family house... the room was comfortable, with little tv and cable, but the best was our balcony to main square in front of the cathedral... i never could enter there cause it open at the afternoon (5pm to 8pm), and just the
back door... was a shame, maybe next time...
The first day we did a short daytrip to the Ventanillas de Otuzco (Otuzco Windows) trip, starting in Puente Colgante, a little brige wich mooves when u walk on it... the funny quote was a walkswagen was under us... and people use to jump or run along... if u are nervous like us, ull can scream a little... then we go to Ventanillas de Otuzco a pre-inca necropoli, it has a beautifull valley view... the next stop was to Hortensias yard, the people there cultive big hortencias, and at the end of the yard u can find a little tipical market, at the end of the trip we bought some "rosquillas", "manjar blanco" and cheese in a farm... If u have the same luck as us, ull see a cow birth.
Fall the day... and starting the night we moved to Taberna del diablo disco-bar till now the best cajamarca disco, the vip room is the second floor, to find some place to sit there u must arrive early, cause if u dont ull stay stand up all night... the music is good, and they hide a group for some
hours, ull find cumbia, merengue, salsa, 80s and 2 or 3 electronic songs... well the first floor is bigger than the second and theres is the dance floor... some adviced about it, take care the clothes u leave there, and have a lot of fun!.... Other good place to dance is "Los frailones", i couldnt go there but i heard good things about it...
The second day we went to Collpa ex ranch, our first stop was at the church of collpa, there and every church of Peru the saints are perfectly created, dont forget look the light blue sky, and if u can took some pics too.... then the guide take us to see the call of cows by they name... sounds weird but is true, they call them by they name and the cow with that name goes to the place with her name... then we walk around and saw a mini zoo, lots of horses and ducks... u must buy cheese and manjar blanco from this place, is one of the best i ate and its not so expensive. Then the tour takes u to a little waterfall called yacanora, but walk as fast as u
can cause ull need time to visit the Incas Baths, natural hot springs, when ull get to Baños del inca ask about the spa there, is really cheap.
The 3rd day we hired a special tour, Cumbemayo and Porcorn farm mini zoo all afternoon, this was the tour i liked most... going to Cumbemayo we ate Cajamarca bread and cheese, at one min to other the weather changed and the rain started... till that moment we were saved, we were under roof, and we didnt care cause 10 min before to get there we could see the stone forest, getting there we walked under rain but again who cares, is very funny also... we passed a little dark tunnel and when we went out was a beautifull sun waiting for us, then we walked like 2 hours, just see the nature, sheeps around, old aqueducts, breeth fresh air worth it... tired of walk we continue the tour going to Porcon (like a friend said "porncorn", but i never watched any movie 😞 ) a little far from Cumbemayo like 40 min, but along the road exist a pine forest. After arrived we went to mini zoo, we enjoy a
lot the zoo, there i saw vicuñas, they are so sweet... so inofensive, then i saw parrots, foxes, ducks, bears... mmm i dont remember more... well we walk around like 2 hours by there... i allways say take pictures as posible u can....
Well at night again we partied again, with our old friend the uncle Jhonie, that guy who call him walker... donno but hes allways in my trips and parties... really outgoing
The 4rth day we rest all morning and then we did our own city tour :D, well we hide a guide, but he goes with us where we asked... we couldnt go into the cathedral as i said and san francisco curch but i least i took some pics outside... near of our hotel was the rescue room, that place is historical, cause at virreynatos time when they just got here, knap incas Atahualpa so he told them that his people will fill all that room with gold.... when they did it atahualpa wasnt saved, the spanish killed them to proove their power...
Well that day i returned to Lima, at least i did all the tours and i have fun... well at
the return i came in Transportes Linea at super vip cruiser, their seats are 180 degrees very confortables, well i was alone in this bus till my partner sit got into the bus... he was very fun, we laugh, saw videos form is ipod, told us stories from our lives, im very please to know him, just is a shame i didnt took any pic with him... maybe the next time.... ill let u the link of the song wich made me happy
