I arrived in the southern Peruvian city of 1 million called Arequipa on Thursday morning. Rewind 2 days to when my travels began. Monday night I moved out of my ¨home away from home¨Macondo Hostel in San Gil, Colombia. I live in Long Beach, Southern California. I love my job teaching 7th grade Biology/Health in Long Beach. However, for years I have dreamed of taking off to South America for a few months on my own with just my backpack...so now is the time to do it. I am very excited, scared, curious, and so much more. Hi! the bus company is Cruz del Sur...recommend it for night trips over 6 hours...but it is significantly more expensive than other companies. Your choice. :) the hostel in Arequipa is Bothy Hostel and the tour company to book for the canyon trek is Land Adventures...highly recommended! Enjoy Peru!

hi Sonya, really found your blog very interesting and loved the photos! sounds like you were very deprived of sleep for the first few days. i am traveling to Peru in 10 days and would love to know the name of the bus company you so highly praise and the hostel to book the canyon tour. keep up the writting.
