First day in S America, night before Galapagos adventure

Had a horrible day travelling via American Airlines from LA to Miami then Miami to Quito. Arrived late and very tired. Hotel is very pretty it's exactly as I imagined a traditional casa to be. We were hungry but told its not safe to venture out so I ate a toffee apple that I brought on the pier in Montery! Very nutritious.

Today we wandered around the centre historic and took a 3 hour open top bus ride around old Quito. The churches and museums are very pretty. It reminds me a little of Havana in Cuba. The food is a bit odd here I had a corn on the cob today which tasted more like chick peas and rather than having it with butter I got a lump of cheese with it?!!

We had our tour meeting ahead of the Galapagos tour tomorrow, any hopes that I had of picking up a strapping young lad were dashed as the average age on the tour appears to be about 65. On the upside the weather forecast is 27-30 degrees and our boat resembles a yacht so I can handle that! Hoping to get some quality diving done. I will be incommunicado for 10 days as no wifi or Internet just me, the sea and the sun, what more could a girl need?
