Tiare & Nick at the waterfall on the way into Baños
TUESDAY 4 MARCH 08

So today we leave our lovely jungle hideaway and start heading back up the hills. Tiare is going to miss the warmer weather!!

After breakfast we all piled back into the old canoe and headed back to our bus. Today is going to be another day of mainly bus travel. Some on paved roads some definitely not paved roads. Close to Baños we stopped to look at a pretty spectacular waterfall and some of the group shot a cross the canyon (400m?) in a fairly basic looking cable car set up (we skipped that bit).

And thats about all there is to tell about today....

WEDNESDAY 5 MARCH 08

Today was a free day in Baños. Baños is known for its adventure sports (white water rafting, canyoning, bungee etc), with Tiare's cold and Nicks worry about catching it we decided against repeatedly dunking ourselves in cold water for a day, and spent a lazy day wandering around the town looking at the many water falls and deciding that we were glad we didn't pay to get into the hot baths (we could see in from one of the waterfalls - more

spa phobia).

Oh, and there has been a bit of noise in the local meadia at the moment because the volcano at Baños (Baños is built on its distant slopes) has become very active again. We thought this was pretty exciting, though apparently we weren't in any danger as the crater points the other way and if it erupted it would wipe out another towna and not us. Nick is not sure how geologically correct this is but its reassuring all the same. Now we can say we seen a smoldering volcano!
