SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH.
LOOK MOMHolding a gun with the soldiers at the top of the lost city
A BIENTOT!
So it's been a while! I am now (and have been for over a week) in a small fishing village on Colombia's north coast called Taganga. Last week, on our first day in Taganga, we went to a very secluded beach. We had to cross many mountains but it was worth it in the end because we had the beach to
ourselves.
The second day we did absolutely nothing but it was still fun because we were relaxing in hammacs in the shade, reading, listening to music and playing cards. We also booked our Ciudad Perdita trip that day.
The next day (last Tuesday) we left for the lost city. We were a big group:
- 1 Canadian (me!!!)
- 2 Danes
- 2 Americans
- 6 Israelis
- 1 Swiss
- 1 Spaniard
- 1 British
- 1 Australian
I hope I am not forgetting anyone.
We were a fairly big group but we were very fast. To get to the Lost City you have to walk 3 days through the Colombian jungle and then 2 days back (it is faster on the way back because you are going down). The walk was at some times hard (1.5 - 2 hour steep climbs) but overall I would say it is a moderate trek. But once you get to the lost city it is all worth it.
It is a beautiful city consisting of many terraces where the Tayronna indigenous people used to live. We actually got to the Lost City the day of my 21st birthday
so that was a special way to celebrate.
We are now just chilling in Taganga and tomorrow we are off to Cartagena, another city on the coast of Colombia, about 4 hours from here.
See you soon!

Wow, some great pictures. I didn't recognize you in the yellow outfit in the group shot. Looks like you did a lot of hiking and trekking. Good to know you are with other people. I am sure your spanish is coming real handy in the jungle with the guides. OOps..you didn't mention any guides....was there any? Anyhow, glad you are in civilization now or pretty soon. Keep on trekking safely. Love you ....Mom!

Neddless to say your mother was a bit concerned when she saw you with the military guys,. But it is clear you are having a good time. Just wanted to let you know that I picked up your PC today. They fixed everything and apparently they event replaced the main motherboard. Why, I don't know but it's all fixed.
Take good care of yourself and have a good time!
Love you! P.s. Melissa had a good report card. Her overall average is 87%.
