We were looking forward to chilling out on the beach of the Caribean coastline of Colombia. BUT..... Yvonne's coughing got so bad that we had to go to hospital again. It turned out to be pneumonia. She was hospitalized straight away! 48 hours of anti biotics through a drip, loads of pain and difficult communications later she checked herself out of the hospital. This tough cookie was not having it anymore. The medical treatment was excellent, but the staff varied in quality and internal communication non existent!!! The specialist gave her the thumbs up to go, but staff nurse wanted to keep her there.
Anyway Yvonne got out and the building up of her strength was our goal for the rest of the remaining 9 days in Taganga. Loads of fruit (juices), healthy food and resting in hammocks was on the cards (as well as taking her medication).
Fortunately, we were staying in a great hostel (Casa San Felipe) with cool people. The beach was not that tropical at all, but the sea was warm and clear.
Basically, we didn't do anything except sunbathe and rest.....oh, and party a little once Yvonne was back on track. Plus, spent
a lot of time with the boys watching football on the biggest plasma screen ever in the hostel.
Well this is it, our last entry!! For us, South America has been a trip of surprise and excitement. Every day was a new experience and meeting great (and not so great) people along the way.
Hasta pronto America Sur!!
