I just spent a few days on the caribe of columbia. That does good things for a body. Found some really sick body surfing, some of the best of my trip, maybe the best! The beaches were amazing. You had to hike in a few miles in to Park Tayrona. Oh man...then you just relax, and sleep in hammocks. Anyone who misses columbia is sure missing a lot. I know that it could be dangerous, but it doesnīt feel like that at all, and the people are amazingly friendly.
Columbia is a dream
where all you wishes come true
a place of immense freedom
that floods into you
catching waves while watching the sunset
walking thru the jungle at night to see where you will get
I had a cool adventure last night. I met a girl that was in another camp about 40 minutes walk across beaches and thru jungle. I didnīt have much going on, so I tried to make it there. I ran into this couple also headed there, a place called, Paraiso, or paradise. How fitting...anyway their light was out, so we used mine to guide all of us. It wouldīve been a nightmare
to do with no light! So we all made it there, trecking across beaches, our feet getting wet because the tide was really high. I had my guitar too, which I played sometimes when we walked on the beach, cause I didnīt need to use the light. Finally we get there. I never found my friend--all the lights were off, it was late, and impossible to find anyone. So I just hung out a little, then started back. They gave me another battery, because mine was dying. I start back alone...they had warned me of these small yellow green snakes which are the most important and which come out at night, so itīs dangerous to walk at night, especially alone. And I thought, hey, all our lives are like that, there are these little snakes which could bite you and do you lots of damage. Then I thought, no not really...a lot of people donīt quite live with that danger. But maybe you have other fears like that, you see. Anyway, I didnīt find myself too concerned about it.
It was so cool walking back to my camp. The stars were bright that night. The waves came up and
lapped my feet. Finally I got back and there I was. The adventure was all in the journey.
Itīs like now, Iīm heading to Rio de Janero, but itīs all in the journey isnīt it. Destinations are only an excuse for adventure, and every destination is a destiny. Iīm sure when I get to rio it will be really cool, weīre going to make a cool album, just me, Ariel, and Leo...and Iīll live there a while. But Iīm saving the best for last. Though I kinda feel that columbia is my favorite so far, and usually I wouldnīt say I have favorites with countries. Every one is different. But here Iīve been having such a good time. Anyway, just a few minutes left, and Iīm off with my buddy chase to togango to do some diving tomorrow. Chase told me to think of what people back home were doing, and I just canīt imagine. Itīs tuesday and this is what weīre doing. No itīs wednesday. I dnoīt even know the day. Anyway, we have parties planned for tomorrow, etc etc. And i just....wow.
Until later!
