Hi everyone. How's it going? I hope all is well. I arrived safe in sound in Medellin last Saturday after taking the 12 hour night bus from Cartagena. We took the metro to get to the hostel and I couldn't help but notice that the Medellin metro system is much cleaner and the cars are much bigger than those in Montreal.
Anyways, we checked into the Pit Stop Hostel in the Poblado neighbourhood. We slept all morning because we were tired. I don't
think we did much all day. Sunday I took the Metro to this station and then it becomes a cable car. You don't even have to pay (if you already paid your metro fee). The cable car takes you to the top of one of the hills surrounding the city. You get these really awesome views of the city. I stayed at the top and read a book for a while but then it started raining so I came back to the hostel.
I stayed four nights at the Pit Stop but then I had enough of this place. It is so loud! There's people partying there 24 hours a day and it's impossible to sleep. So I just walked down the street to this other hostel called the Black Sheep Hostel... where I am currently staying. I like it here! I can sleep.
For the past 2 or 3 days I have been going out with a friend from Montreal (Pamela!) and her friends. We went for drinks, she showed me the city, tonight we are all going out a big gang.
Today I went to the Museo de Antioquia. It's in downtown Medellin and it's
free to get in if you have an ISIC card. There's tons of Botero's stuff and there's also a Picasso exhibition going on now but I don't like Picasso. After that, I chilled in the Plaza Botero for a while and read a book.
I think I will be heading to Ecuador yet but I am not sure when!
Take care.

Sounds like you had fun in Medellin. It's great to have a friend to show you around locally. It's a good thing you changed hostels. If you pay day per day....when you don't get good sleep.....change places. I'm sure there is enough around. Keep me posted when you get to ecuador.
We went sailing yesterday on Canada day and got stuck in a rain storm. It was quite an experience, but all is well. Ollie & Yan came to pick up your furniture today. Had a hard time getting the 3seater couch out from the basement. Dad said, there will not be another 3 seater going down to the basement anytime soon. Part of the wall is destroyed from the moving.
Melissa just got back from her Europe trip today. She had so much to say. She had a fabulous time. Her voice got coarser, I guesss from all the talking. She climbed the Vatican, hiked Cinque terre, and climbed the entire Vesuvius volcano. She loved Nice, went Clubbing in Florence, loved Monaco. Her tour guide was amazing, but.....she hated the food. Oh well..... bye for now.... Love you...mom
Looks like you're having a great time! I like the statues - they remind me of the pictures you took of the art near the beginning. I especially liked your witty Butt ero. Clever. Love you!
I saw an interview on this artist once. They were showing is paintings. Quite disctinctive style. Good to hear from you! The boys came by yesterday and picked up the furniture. You received today an envelop from the registrar's office of Concordia.
Have fun!
Dad.
