Visiting Cartagena turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life...the city is absolutely amazing...there are so many things to see and so many things to do..I took things slowly and started with the city center, visiting San Pedro Memorial House which is nowadays a Museum, next to the Church and it has a really nice but sad history. It looks like San Pedro, of Spanish origin got to Colombia where he started dedicating his life to the abolition of slavery, and if not total abolition, at least taking care of the slaves in the best way he could, teaching them , being their doctor, as well as teacher, priest. There are proves of a very pious life everywhere. He called himself °the slave of the slaves°. Next I visited Boca Grande which is the touristic zone with huge sky-scrapers which as I lived only in Santa Marta so far I didn°t imagine they could actually exist in Colombia. Awesome! splendid! Breath-taking! Spent a whole day on a terrace on the beach drinking Aguila and listening to nice remixes...next day we went to San Felipe Castle, which is huge, of course we playfully got lost in the tangled
tunnels that go all around the castle. It is really worth visiting. At night we went out, there are plenty of options when it comes to bars, discos..we chose a nice place playing mostly traditional music such as vallenato, salsa, champetta..it was nice, I had a really good time!! Hope to visit it again before I leave Colombia. Oh, by the way, if there is somebody interested and has been following my life here in South America, well guys, after a loooot of complaining and good advice from friends, I decided to give this country a second chance!! I am going to move to Medellin, working in a university there for the next 6 months. I had the phone interview and everything, they accepted me and I have to be there before the 10th of July. That means packing up my things and leaving next week..maybe on Thursday...I°ll keep you posted!
