Congratulations Kuk and Pinkybhai, wicked a girl, she will get spoilt to death!!!
Tambien to Dipa for getting the damn marriage legalised!!! Take your time gal!!
Ok then, where to start!!!
1st Dec 2006, we flew from Panama City to directly to Cartagena. Easy flight, no hitches. First Country in South America, was extremely excited!!
Cartagena is a magnificent city, full of history and culture, but a tourist hot spot and one of the four main cities in the country.. therefore bloody expensive!! Amit, you should take Nish, I know that you can afford it!! It is the perfect choice for a holiday destination, city, beach, shopping (of the best kind) and lots of food)!!!
So we have investigated the city, been to a fortress, seen Boca Grande (the new city) and the beach there, met many people who we are out with us on the evening of 5th Dec 2006 when it happened. Jo went to the toilet.. yes the toilet in Triplaterra... where she was crouching and suddenly crash.. she went down.. but her knee went to the side.. she had dislocated her knee.. the owner came to get me and rushed me to
the toilet.. it was then that I saw it.. brave Jo knew that the knee needed to be pushed back into place.. I was just building up the courage.. no need the solider had completed the task.. the knee was back in place!!! She held the pain and finished the night, refusing to leave as she was fine.. the next day the doctor (quite literally) went to work on her and plastered her from the top of her leg all the way to the bottom, it was to stay that way for the next 22 days.. well, that is unless Jo had anything to do with it.. days of pursuing the doctor, that is days, but he would not budge it was to remain.
Trapped in the city!! How awful!! It was a little but it was not too bad, we had many friends and lots to do (yeah right), the only draw back (for me) was it just too expensive.
A few days later came the arrival of Phil, Joīs friend from England, he has been living in Ecuador for the last 2 years and I donīt think that he has any intention of returning home. Thinks
he is a comedian!! Funny fella that one.. just kept coming back.. like a moth to the flame burnt by the fire..
We took the plaster to visit La Boquilla a beautiful beach near to Cartagena, I think that it enjoyed itself!! The three definitely did!! We ate the biggest plato of seafood including lobster, mmmmmm. We had to get on a small boat through the mangles for about 30 minutes (without getting the plaster wet). I do love to be beside the Caribbean Sea..
Christmas eve was celebrated with Miguel (DJ from Triplaterra) and the usually suspects. Christmas eve is celebrated more that Christmas day over here, strange, no problem though as it gave us two days to celebrate.. Like you need a reason in Colombia!!
Splashed out Christmas day and had a nice meal in the poshed part of town Santa Domingo, followed by a rumba in Nachos part of town. FUN, very entertaining party. All the locals celebrating the festive period, they welcomed us and integrated us (or maybe Phil integrated himself), just like being in Brixton or Greenstead (get it)..
Sanjay, disappointed with you by the way, I waited all day for
you to call me but nothing, cheers bruv!!!!!
The day after boxing day was time to remove the plaster and we were then free to leave, I enjoyed my time but it was definitely time to move on...........
There is a cafe del mar in Cartagena, funny, couldnīt afford our drinks and had to ask for a discount.. oh, you desi!!!!
