...greeted us as we walked out of the Bogota International Airport after flying in from New York. Wives, husbands, lovers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles & friends turn up to welcome anyone returning to Colombia so it seemed like a cast of thousands were there! And waiting for us were the soon to be married Angelica & Juan along with Angelica's dad Alvaro. As we didn't touch down until 9.30pm they took us straight to our apartment, arranging to pick us up today. Before Angelica & Alvaro arrived we went for a walk only to discover about four gun toting soldiers and half a dozen police in some sort of an operation not far from our apartment. Bogota is definitely a VERY interesting place; holes in the roads and footpaths, crowded old buses belching fumes all over the place and guards in front of shopping centres as well as apartments. But most importantly the city is full of friendly people...it's simply fascinating and I'm loving it!
Angelica and her family have been treating us like royalty. Along with Angelica's sister and mother I was treated to a pedicure and manicure this morning before we joined them all for lunch. All that

Kev just before we met the military!

took place in Angelica's parents beautiful penthouse overlooking a park and with the mountains which surround Bogota in the background. Then it was off to hire a shirt and bow tie for Kev to wear at the wedding tomorrow and to try to buy some shoes for me; no luck on that score so I'll be back on the case tomorrow morning. I've booked a hair appointment for tomorrow afternoon at a salon where no-one spoke English and since I don't speak Spanish that was rather fun.
Before we left New York - from Newark, New Jersey - Kerrii & I went shopping once more for wedding 'stufff' but to no avail. We ventured down Madison Avenue only to arrive back at the apartment with nothing more than a bagel.
So once this wedding is about to commence -a grand affair with 250 guests, many of whom, like us, have travelled from places far afield - I'll be able to relax somewhat. Mind you, I'm really looking forward to it!
