Bogota, Colombia
We woke early to try and book some flights to the North of Colombia. Unfortunately they proved to be too expensive on line, and also the Colombian airlines, Avianca and Aero Republica dont allow you to use your card unless its American or from South America, so we headed to the centre looking for the enarest Avianca office. But it was closed! Apparently it was a Lunes Festiva, which meant everything was shut. We couldnt even take the Funicula (like a carriage if a train) to the top of the mountains surrounding the city for the views, as it was too overcast.
We made our way to an area called El Lago, which we had been told was a huge Technological Centre to try a get a new lead for my laptop, as my had broken. But after an hour getting there, we couldnt do a thing, as that was also closed! Typical!
After a wasted morning, we planned to go to Museo Botero, named after the artist Fernandez Botero. It was surprisingly good! Most of his paintings are of overweight naked women. We wandered around with me practically jogging past all the paintings as I was hungry again and wanted to leave! We came across some of Picasso´s paintings. But they were disappointing, they looked like rough pencil sketches in posh frames.
We left and wandered around the centre, amazed by the number of homeless people sleeping on all the streets. We walked past one in a wheelbarrow with a newspaper covering his face, he looked dead to me.
