I went paragliding yesterday! I´ve never been before so I was truly looking forward to it! HOWEVER! Why didnt anyone warn me about ... hm. lets just say that its highly likely to get MOTION SICKNESS when paragliding!??? There should be a big warning on their website that says.. if you got a weak belly and are prone to motion sickness then take motion sickness pills! No need to warn us that we would be doing this at your own risk since there is always the possibility of crashing hundreds of feet high from the sky. clearly thats possible! but I had no idea that I would be feeling as if I was on a ship in a thunderstorm. It was sooo rocky.. like being swung backkk and forthhh.. backkk and forth... Under the blistering sun ... read more

... read more

Na me pripadlo misto hned vedle ridice.

V nedeli dopoledne v tomhle meste nefunguje vubec ... read more

... read more

After leaving Danny in Uyuni we (Craig and Jake) set off back to San Pedro de Atacama. Although we spent three days on the road on the way out the return journey would take us less than one day. We took a more direct route back too and after a brief stop over (arrived at 8, up at 3.30am!) in the middle of nowhere, we headed for the border and back into Chile. Despite the little time we spent at our stopover we still had time to talk to a French couple, one of whom had literally run away to join the circus! We planned to get a bus that evening to Iquique, but had to settle for a shorter trip to nearby Calama and a connection the next morning. Despite being the centre of a ... read more

Iquique is another beach resort, so is again pretty quiet at this time of year. It's even more cosmopolitan than Arica though, and with some great beaches, so I can imagine it would be a great place to holiday in the summer. Even the winter, though, there was enough to amuse us for a few days, even if we did have to undertake a 12 hour tour one day in Spanish! Despite not understanding anything at all the guide told us, it was still really interesting, taking in an abandoned ghost town, a couple of desert oases, volcanic hot springs and a church housing yet another statue of the Virgin Mary which is claimed to perform miracles. ... read more

So almost three weeks into my trip and according to my plans of heading south in Chile then working my way up through Argentina, I am currently in negative territory as I am 1465km north of Santiago where I started my trip about three weeks ago. Oh well, for the opportunity to travel with friends it has been worth it. Iquique (ee-key-kay) is a destination I thought I would get to while living in Bolivia, but the stars didn't line up correctly and I never made it over to Chile, so here I am now. After an early arrival in the city and a nap at the Hosteling International Backpacker's Hostel Iquique (http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostel012020.en.htm) and working out some small details, such as finding a bus back to Bolivia for Alejandro and Linnea, we were on our ... read more

Last week was 'spring break' and we decided to escape the rainy season and head to the Chilean coast with Jason and Sara. We convinced Jason that 5:30am was a little too early to leave and we managed to postpone take off time to a more reasonable hour. The border crossing went relatively smoothly - for Bolivian standards - and after about half an hour of walking from building to building we were in Chile. But not before they made us pay to leave the country even though we have a multi-entry visa!... still very bitter about that one. However, you can't really argue with a man in a uniform. We drove through the Atacama Desert and marveled at how insanely dry it is and secretly wondered why on earth some people chose to live anywhere ... read more
