HeathrowLast view of England (at its best) before take off
Hello team!
I'm up in the mountains now, in the resort about 40k from Santiago called El Colorado. I got up here Friday and got dropped off at the building im staying in called Monte Blanco. Im staying in an appartment with Karl (who im renting off) and at the moment a guy from actual 'Colorado' called Jake. There will be more people coming and going, i think up to 8 during the season.
So, on Friday afternoon after putting some bits and bobs away, and buying an (expensive) season pass me and Karl hit the slopes. It hadnt snowed for 2 weeks but as theres already been a lot of snow (theres apparently already like 2m on the ground) so it was fine. Luckily the sun was out so it had softened up a bit. We went down through a little gulley canyony thing which was loadsa fun cos i havnt really done that before, it must be amazing there on a powder day. Then went through the park. The first thing i saw was a box, thought yeah ill give that a go. No idea how much or little speed id need as Karl isnt really into

boxes. So just went for it. Apparently i needed about a tenth of the speed i had. Went along the flat bit, launched off and missed the whole down bit and landed in a heap. Unfortunately a bit later i got a migraine so went back to the appartment for a 'nap' at about 5 ish. This so called nap turned out in me waking up at 9am the next morning! Karl had gone out to party and i was none the wiser!!
So, that morning Jake moved in, we went out and boarded together. Still no snow, and no sun either so it was hard and icy up the mountain. We just spent the day in the park which is fine by me! Then we all went out that night (Saturday) to a bar that had opened a little down the mountain. Me and Jake slid down on bin bags most the way on the rock hard ice, whereas Karl and a friend attempted to walk down without slipping.
Yesterday we went out about 12 and it was still hard and icy so spent the day in the park again. I tried a 180 and landed it
for the first time on my fourth go! YAY. Although the next time was more like a 90 ish thing so ill work on that today and hopefully nail it. A few little falls but nothing major yet, just a sore bum as its the snows so hard when you do fall! Didnt go out last night, started to learn a bit of the guitar. Karl plays a bit, but mainly bass, but is helping me out with a few basic chords.
Today its amazing sunshine so hopefully the snow will soften. We're still waiting for snow, theres meant to be a little storm coming on Friday so fingers crossed everyone!! Starting to get to know some people around the resort, Karl and Jake seem to know EVERYONE as they've been here the last few years...i just have to try and remember names to faces...which as you all know im sooo good at :p
Havent got many fots yet but will upload a few to this. Hope alls well in sunny Cornwall!! (and the rest of you) xx
Going up the MountainCrazy winding roads up to Resort. Chileans think its safe to overtake huge buses on sharp corners. Amazing views.
On the slopesLooking down to Santiago. Low clouds and smog, but still looks pretty.
Nice viewsJake and Thomas at the top of the park with lush mountain views int he background.
