SunJay and Jake at the top of the park
Howdy,
Went to Chillan last week...bit of a disappointment to be honest, but purely down to the snow conditions, not the actual resort (which was muy bonita) I left El Colorado on Saturday (while it was heavily snowing here) and stayed the night in Santiago. The guy that i got a lift with lives in the hills and the building had an outdoor hot tub! So some friends came round and we chilled there looking over night time in Santiago. Pretty awesome, lucky bugger.
Headed to Chillan on Sunday and found a Cabin for a tenner each per night. It was pretty good, like 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, kitchen, fire. But yeh, the snow sucked. The first day nothing was open except the baby slope cos of wind at the top of the mountain, so we built a small jump over a set of stairs and they had a little sesh there for a few hours. I didnt hit it, i would never have got enough speed (they were on skis so had poles...plus theyre all like awesome anyway).
The next day we could actually go up to the top of the mountain, even though it was
a bit windy. But conditions still werent great, there were rocks coming through on the pistes and stuff, and it was hot and slushy. They started to build the park for the exhibition/competition thing so we went there for a bit. In the eve they were meant to be starting the exhibition stuff to get pics in the night time, but they had problems getting light up on the slopes. So we just decided to leave that night and drove back to El Colorado. Wasnt a complete waste of time, it was nice to see another resort. And its completely different to here, here theres no trees cos its above tree line, and theres not really much around. Chillan was really beautiful though, a lot more cabanas (cabins) and nice rustic wooden hostels etc. Def be worth a visit with good snow. Getting to the hostel was a mission, if youve seen cabin fever it reminds me of that! Pot holes, trees, mud, no light. good job we had a car!
Back up in El Colorado 2 girls have arrived (yes, actual girls. Like pretty much the first ive seen since being here). Ones from Oz and ones from
ChillanView of a volcano from Termas de Chillan
England, they came together. Another guy from Oz is here too. They are all here for 3 weeks / month. So its been a full house pretty much! Jay (from Quebec) has now left though. Its weird getting to know people and living together and then them leaving...its a while yet before the rest go though :)
Anyway, the reason for the 'silly sabrina' title is that iv gone and hurt myself again. Yesterday, i was pretty tired so was taking the day off...but was bored so thought ill go out. went to the park and did 2 runs with Jake, and then we were both like 'i cant be bothered, shall we go'. So on the way down hit a jump, trying out a new move i started to learn the other day called method. All went horribly wrong and i kinda turned upside down or something and couldnt feel my arm for a sec, and banged my side/lower back. So my lower bk fully hurt to walk, couldnt get xrayed last night so waited til this morning. They xrayed my pelvis and its fine, no fractures. But i managed to tear the ligament in my wrist (even with wrist guards on...good job i wear them!) so the lady said 'i have to immobilize it' so i have to wear a silly immobilizor thing for a week while it heals. Doesnt hurt as much to walk today if i lean on things and walk like a spaz. Have to go back on Tuesday to check everythings fine, and she'll tell me when i can ride again. All fun and games!!
Meant to be stormy for a few days anyway so ideal time to rest, chill and watch films. Plus when i finally get back out hopefully there will be fresh SOFT snow :) Cant even learn any guitar tho...bummer. Think ill start being a bit less of a daredevil for a few weeks :p
Got a few pics but need to remember to take more really, then ill upload a facebook album.
Speak soon!! xxxx
