ola from santiago, chile.
we kinda completely changed our plans in a matter of 15 minutes and decided to not chance the roads in bolivia, but instead, travel 3000 kilometers back in the other direction for chile. We spent 18 hours on a NON airconditioned bus to go back to Buenos Aires for the 4th time. Let me tell you...I do not recommend taking this bus when it is plus 47 degrees with no wind, and everyone else on the bus seems to have a huge issue with personal hygiene.
We spent all of 8 hours in Buenos Aires, just long enough to see La Boca ( the colorful pictures), eat a well needed north american meal at the Hard Rock, and go back to Evitaīs grave to take the pictures we didntīget the first time.
We then continued to climb aboard another 20 hour bus to Santiago, Chile. This bus was much better, and driving through the Andes was an amazing experience. I some how managed to sleep on my glasses for a good portion of the trip, bending them to extreme proportions, but its all good, a man fixed them for me for 1 dollar.
As crazy at it sounds, we leave again tomorrow at noon for another 24 hour bus ride up to northern chile to get on an organized tour of Bolivia.
Here is some pics to keep you satisfied, might be a while before the next bunch.
keep up the comments, we miss you all
The winding roadAfter crossing the border, we took this crazy winding road with 20 full 180 turns to get back down the mountain. The elevation was so high, our contact solution sprayed everywhere

Wow - they sure like to paint their buildings with various colors - glad to hear you are taking a safer way into Bolivia - and quit going to Buenoa Aires - as I cannot seem to say that word properly ha ha- pictures are great - keep having fun - and I don't envy those bus rides - I could not take the heat. Taylor is off on break from University this week - glad to be away from the books he says - hard he says but going o.k. Take care both of you. Love Auntie - Auntie Elaine
Hey Jolene! I love getting your updates from your trip! I've got a picture of your waterfalls as the background on my computer right now, it's so beautiful! Work is work, we have lots of clients, Jenn and I are up to 12 each now, a lot busier than the 4 each we had in December! Adam's moved up to Fort St. John so we have a new ET working with the boys, her names Pam, she's from Newfoundland and is doing a great job! I've found, bought and am waiting to move into a new condo in Millwoods, I think you'll get back a week or 2 after my "I'm finally moving out" party, but you'll have to come over and check it out anyways! and I was overjoyed to be offered a permanent contract the same week I got the mortgage, so now I know I'll have a job to make the payments with! Matt and I are still going strong, we went aways for a ski trip last weekend and it's true, the Alberta Rockies have some of the best conditions I've ever seen (I've been skiing ~5 years)!!
So that's all my news from Edmonton, we miss you lots, oh, and Dee, Kam and Pam have a guy with a mullet on program right now! I thought of you!
Take care,
