Goose moment ! So there you go, after 7 months and 7 date we had a flight confirmed to Madrid.... finally leaving South America!
It's been a great trip so far, but also looking forward now to some time with family and friends, and hopefully some warm weather again! As you may have seen, the past few weeks... ehm make that months, have not been all that warm.
The flight from Mendoza to santiago wasn't overkill, just a precaution to make sure we'd get that flight to Madrid. As we'd been skiing in fresh snow, the pass back to Santiago had also received a fresh load (i.e. it was closed again for a few days). Either way, regardless of the extra cash (which was bearable due to a very helpful guy at at the Mendoza LAN office, smartly booking a cheaper return ticket), it was a spectacular way to cross the snowed in Andes mountains. We'll forget the 3 hour delay for a second. The flight from Santaigo left after dark, so no more views until we'd hit Spain.

We're off, from Australia to South America, and Budget willing, at least 8 months. This BLOG will be the place where we'll try to keep all our travel tales, and hopefully plenty of pictures.

Nacional Airlines That's the Chilean airline I used for the short hop from Mendoza to Santiago. Excellent views. Half the price of the bus (Another helpful travel agent). Weird thing was they served a whopping sandwich with, you guessed it, red meat. About 4 kinds of meat. It was being served as we were still climbing and being taken away when we landed! Have things changed in the airline industry or what?
