From Villa Manuales to Villa Amangual it was only 60 km The road was paved for the first 20km and the last 20km but that I did not know. The morning started out not like promised. No salmon for breakfast and no blue skies to start cycling. My friends kept friendly, we drank coffee and said goodbye. Wind in the wrong direction and after some time it started really raining. When it came to the bad part of the road a bus which passed me bye blew a tire so I could easily pass the people who had been waving friendly when they saw me cycling in the rain and wind. Ese día pasamos por Villa Santa Lucía y paramos ahí para almorzar. Compramos algunas cosas en un minimarket, dimos una vuelta por el pueblo y después almorzamos (sandwiches) cerca de la plaza. Después del descanso seguimos pedaleando y nos tocaba subir la "Cuesta Moraga", otro de los sectores difíciles de la Carretera Austral. Como ya habíamos pasado la Cuesta Queulat, esta nos pareció bastante más fácil y sin darnos cuenta, llegamos a la cima. Después, la mejor parte de la cuesta; la bajada. El desafío del día era recorrer más de 70km entre Villa Amengual y el Parque Nacional "Queulat" y acampar ahí. En los 70km se incluía la temida "Cuesta Queulat", probablemente la parte más difícil de la Carretera Austral, que son como 9km de subida. Como en los días anteriores, los paisaje simplemente espectaculares. Entre admirar estos parajes desolados y escuchando música con nuestros reproductores mp3, cada uno estaba en su propio mundo, desconectado de todo el resto. Almost unbelievable after so much water but the morning started dry. We went for a nice walk on the hill close to the village to have a nice view of the bay and the surrounding area. When the sun really started shine you could really see how beautiful the place is. Even a large part of the walking track was constructed with wood like most of the pedestrian paths in Tortel. Inbetween a lot of water so it was a quest to keep your feet dry. We saw 7 condors making circles above our heads. Diane did not liked it before someone in the vening told us that condors do not attack living stock, so what were we ? New years eve was an evening to remember in Villa o´Higgins in the hostal El Moscow. At the end of the afternoon Tully gave us a yoga class so we were well relaxed for the start of the evening. Jorge made us all a nice dinner. So with Silvia, Lucca, Jorge, Tully, Stefan, Carmen, Diana, Helmut, Serafyn, Brigitta, Jorgito and Santiago, I had a lovely dinner. In Villa o´Higgins there are 5 supermarkets so choices were not limited. New year the morning started late so the bike ride was skipped from my schedule. We did a small trekking in the valley of the river Mayer ending at Lago Christie, where the road also ends. It was the valley the plane crossed inn the clouds. So t was nice to see what was under it.
