hI guys,
So I´ve left Rio behind, and I´m just finishing my two day trek in the incredible Parque Nacional do Iguacu! centered right on boarder between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, my passport is quickly filling up as I´ve crossed the boarder at least four times with my hotel on one side and the falls on the other! I won´t get a chance to put the photos up for awhile, the internet is little harder to come by here!
Met some lovely people on tour though, this nice couple from Equador invited me up to their casa (house) near Quito, apparently they have a son my age they´d love up me to meet, i´m just impressed that half this conversation was in Spanish and I managed to follow it! 😉
The flight from Rio to Iguacu took us over the park so I got a great aerial view of the extensive stretch of Preserved Forest before seeing it on every possible level, side and angle, yesterday I went straight from the airport, dropped of bags and went straight to the park on the Brazilian side, and we got great panoramic views of all 265 waterfalls on Argentinian side,
leading right up to the Devil´s throat, was so grateful my Rio contact Gabrielle helped find me a new camera before i came here, I would have been devastated if i´d had no camera, for those who didn´t hear that story - very briefly, I met this London twat of a guy on my way up to see the Christ in Rio, my second day there, and after he took my photo he knocked it off a wall, where it went crashing down the height of about two stories, afterwards did i realise he was after spending the day knocking back several cans of beer!! never again!!
Today then, we started early which was great cause we got there before the crowds and got the best part of the day as by lunchtime i got to experience a torrential tropical downpour that would put Irish rain to shame!! it put something of a dampner on an otherwise fantastic day, thankfully we were just about finished up when it started!! We got a train through part of the forest, then we treked across this incredibly well constructed bridge that weaves over a long stretch of the river taking you right
up to the drop off of the largest waterfall to give you an idea over 2million cubic litres per second, whatever unit you use to measure volume of water! walking back from there, we went through the upper circuit walk and lower which basically brought you over the other waterfalls and down below them, just when you thought you couldn´t get any closer, we hopped on a boat and they brought you right under the waterfall for a nice refreshing shower!! finished the tour going up stream over the rapids, and then climbed aboard a big 4x4 truck bringing you back to base camp!!
Up early tomorrow for my 6o´clock flight for Buenos Aires, where I hope to see the city´s highlights and meet up with my tour group all under 48 hours, where we start heading south, n from there who knows!!😉
wil try keep this updated as much as possible! email me let me know what´s happening at home! one week here, already feels like a month!!
absolutely loving it, met some lovely people so far, and invites to both Portugal and Berlin as well as Equador!! three months does not seem half long enough!!
take care, will be in touch, hope everyone is gettin this, not sure if your emailed or what when i post something, maybe someone confirm if you get this for me? thanks nuala x x
