What a difference a plane flight makes!
I´m now in Olinda two and a half hours on the plane north from Rio.
It´s way more hot and humid here. Nobody speaks English, so my bizarre Spanish/Portuguese cross over is getting a real pasting right now. My accomodation quality has taken a bit of a dive too towards what I was expecting all along.
Eric, I´m in Africa now! You know what that means!
Today was pretty much a travel day sitting at the mostly deserted Rio airport, chatting with a Brazilian family from Peabody, Mass, then taking an uneventful flight back into the chuva (rain). At the hotel, I´ve already got a tour guide attached to me who seems decent enough - there are hordes of kids around who I expect will be haunting my steps without his services.
Everything is pretty tumbledown around here and rather exotically different, even than Rio.
Tomorrow, I´ll end up doing a guided tour and trying to get a ticket for Fernando de Noranha. No doubt, I´ll end up paying too much for something I didn´t need in the first place, but, hey, I´m still settling in - give a dude a break!
Well that´s all for now. I´ll get back to this Internet cafe tomorrow with camera, etc and no doubt some stunning pics for both of you to see. Until then, I´ll see you on the flypaper.
Damn, it´s hot in here!

Hey, I'm following along too, albeit silently. So your numbers are slightly higher than "both".
Sounds like an incredible trip thus far- I'm envious and can't wait to hear more.

Yes, and more.
Everything, from the heat to the expense, from the animals to, well, the animals!
Hey Mike, Glad to be on board. This was the first thing I could willingly get Madison to read thus far this summer. She can't wait for more and neither can I. GOD bless... Marie
Glad you´re on board! Madison - reading is THE key. Without it how can you get in through the door?
