Heard this morning that there had been a big plane crash in Sau Paulo and there was going to be 3 days of mourning. Brigid and Dave were bombarded by text messages all day from friends checking that they were ok. No one asked after me, but I´m not sulking, at least I know who my real friends are now i.e nobody.
The 6 hour journey to Sau Paulo passed quite quickly, the coach was very comfortable and I seem to have a talent for sleeping through all situations. Must be all that practise at work.
Went out for some food and a few drinks upon arrival. The hostel is in Pinheiros, we found it was a very nice part of town when we went into a swanky bar and got looked up and down in our travelling get up. And I found out why I´ve been getting hammered on 2 drinks (yes I am a lightweight but not that much!!) I thought I should drink Caiprinhas as its the Brazilian national drink but for the first time this evening I saw them making it and its basically pure alcohol with a bit of sugar and a slice of lime! I think I´m going to keep away from those in the future.
Next morning went for a walk down Ave Paulista. I was told it was very close to the hostel, turns out a 30 min walk is very close by Sau Paulo standards, the city is massive. Ave Paulista is the longest avenue I´ve ever walked down in my life. The guidebook says it is Sau Paulo´s version of 5th avenue in New York, although I can´t compare as I´ve never been to New York. As this trip is suppose to be about learning about different cultures and new experiences I decided to give the Museum of Art in Sao Paulo a go, and I´ve learnt that I´m never going to appreciate art.
I´m off to catch a coach for my 16 hour journey to Puerto Iguazu to see the big waterfalls now. I´ll be crossing over into Argentina so tsau tsau Brasil, it´s been great.

Send Private MessageChannie, glad to see that you are having a great time on your travels. Look forward to seeing the photos. Just to let you know it's been incredible hot & sunny here in london since you left.
It not that we don't care, we knew you couldn't afford to fly.
I think it is more a comment on how well you described your itinerary than the quality of your friends ... ;o). Glad to hear you are having a good time and you're not turning too cultural (I don't think i could take the shock). alex xxx
